This is the Privacy Policy page for EclecticPassions.net. It is written by me (Naty S, the webmaster) without any use of AI. I am a privacy advocate and your privacy and data is important to me. This page explains what information is collected and what external dependencies are used when you visit my website, to the best of my knowledge.

1. Collected Information and How It’s Used
Analytics with GoatCounter
I use GoatCounter to collect basic analytics about visitors to my site. GoatCounter is a privacy-friendly and open-source analytics platform (alternative to Google Analytics) that does not collect personally identifiable information. It does not track users with unique identifiers and no information is shared with third parties. See GoatCounter’s Privacy page for more details.
It collects anonymous data such as:
- Hashed IP addresses (which cannot be reversed to identify individuals)
- Browser User-Agent string
- Screen size
- Referrer and URL visited
- Country/location data (generalized)
This data helps me understand how many people visit my site and which pages get more activity, allowing me to improve my site and content. GoatCounter does not require cookie consent under GDPR because it does not track personal data.
Contact Form with Formspark
My contact form is powered by Formspark.io, a privacy-first static form service. When you submit the form, Formspark collects:
- The information you provide in the form fields (e.g., name, email, message)
- Your IP address and browser information for security and spam prevention
Formspark does not sell your data and uses it only to deliver your messages to me and to maintain service quality. See Formspark’s Privacy Policy page for more details.
Anti-Spam with Botpoison
Botpoison is the anti-spam provider I am using that integrates with Formspark forms. It uses proof-of-work methods (invisible to the end user, unlike alternatives like reCAPTCHA or Turnstile). The Botpoison JavaScript library is served directly from this site as a static asset instead of relying on third-party CDNs.
Upon visiting the page that contains the Botpoison script (in my case, it is only the contact-form page), a single short-lived token is stored in your browser’s session storage. It is not used for identification purposes and contains no personal identifiable information. This token is deleted when the tab is closed. See Botpoison’s Privacy Policy page for more details.
2. Cookies and Tracking
This site contains no cookies for tracking or advertising or marketing purposes. I do not do adverts nor sponsored posts. GoatCounter’s analytics do not rely on cookies.
3. Data Retention
The only data collected on this site is the data submitted via the contact form. I retain your contact form data only as long as necessary to respond to your inquiry. I delete your submission entry from Formspark’s dashboard after I have replied by email.
I will not disclose any personal information to any third parties.
If you wish to delete any conversation we had via email or Signal, please reach out and I will delete all data associated with you from their respective platform.
4. End To End Encryption (E2EE)
For a more secure method of reaching out, I suggest using Signal, the instant messaging app, which supports E2EE by default. Or if you prefer email, use GPG/OpenPGP to encrypt your email by using my public key. If you’re new to keys, I think this Mailfence blog post might be of use (I’m not affiliated or a user of Mailfence).
5. Affiliate Links Disclosure
Affiliate links are links to products or services where the link sharer / source (me) may earn a small commission if the link target / vistor (you) make a purchase through it, at no extra cost to you.
I occasionally include affiliate links for services or products that I have used myself and genuinely like or support. I will always disclose when affiliate links are present to maintain transparency with my readers and comply with legal requirements such as the FTC guidelines.
For example, you might see statements like this:

6. Assets
As a self-taught webmaster I have learnt that self-hosted assets is not only a web performance booster but also a better privacy practice. Therefore, I always try my best to minimize the reliance on third-party CDN services or sending external requests for assets (i.e., images, CSS, JS, fonts) when building websites. I have made sure that all assets mentioned are loaded from self-hosted sources.

I may update this policy from time to time. The latest version will always be posted here with the updated date on the top of the page.
